Create Dynamic Goals to End the Year by Asking Yourself These 7 Questions

Have you ever noticed that the most successful people in the world are those who know what they want out of life and aren’t afraid to go for it? (Think, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson just as a start.) 

They had a vision of their hopes and dreams and they went for it – and guess what, they got it!

But here’s the thing, when we stop and honestly look and think about it – these people are no different than you and me. Maybe the only difference is the actions they took in the form of setting goals and going for them.

If you want to choose where you’ll go, you will need clear goals and strategies to get you there. Only then will you have the power to direct your life and marshal your personal resources productively.

As a Millionairess Entrepreneur, it’s up to you to take charge of your business and your life and to lead both of them in the direction your want to go.

This means doing some serious personal goal setting and planning. While goal setting is really a simple process to perform, it is not so easy to implement. To reach your goals requires discipline and consistency over time in order to gain momentum and form a habit, but once this “way of being” is in place, it becomes easy to maintain.

So I’ve put down 7 questions you want to ask yourself to get the ball rolling on your goals.

Question #1: Where am I now?

Your commitment to achievement is a valuable asset. Don’t settle or compromise on you achieving your goal. Instead, begin to cultivate an unwavering stand on your road to achievement.  Don’t avoid what is temporarily hard. Adversity builds character, and good character is necessary these days. When a challenge arises, face it, take responsibility, own it, and find a way to overcome it. Your steadfast pursuit of new problem-solving techniques and your resourcefulness will help you achieve what once looked unsurpassable and transform it into a notable victory.

Question #2: Where do I want to be?

As female entrepreneurs, we face a wide range of issues every day. When a problem develops, take the first step and clearly define what the problem is. Not the superficial problem, but the real one. Once you’ve put the problem into perspective, begin to brainstorm so you can maneuver around it, over it, or through it. Be creative, get resourceful. You’ve got what it takes. Don’t discard an idea that sounds foolish and don’t judge anything because it takes you out of your comfort zone. Your tenacity and determination to find a solution will lead you down a path you could never have imagined. List every possible option you can think of. Consider the pros and cons for each, and then make a decision to implement what you feel is best. Be unstoppable!

Question #3: How will I get there?

Your unique set of talents forms the basis for your entrepreneurial success. Affirm your natural strengths by continually developing your resources. Assess your weaknesses and determine where you will need outside reinforcement or support. If confronted with unfamiliar territory, reach out to others who can help like a coach or a mentor. Start to develop a circle of associates or form a personal board of advisors to help find new, innovative insights for resolving problems. The knowledge exchanged during these encounters will strengthen new talents, build new skills and strengthen your determination to succeed.

Question #4: When do I want to arrive?

You’ve got to put some stakes in the ground. Your goals must have a date attached to them, otherwise, they are mere wishes and, as I like to say, makes you delusional about their achievement. As you forge along your entrepreneurial journey, your patience, willpower, focus, and hard work will pay off for you in unexpected ways when you attach a date to your goals and actually hit it. If, however, you are faced with what looks like a dead-end, don’t consider it a failure – think of it as part of the necessary process of elimination on the road to success. Stay on task, and be willing to wait for an answer to present itself. As women, we have a great well of intuition to tap into. Find the joy in discovering new possibilities for growing your business, despite any winding road to the final outcome.

Question #5: Who will help me to get there?

You are 100% responsible for you plan, and the one who has to make it happen. Once you know what you want and how to get it, you will need help to get there. Call for reinforcement agents (i.e., a business coach, a mentor, an accountability buddy). And make the necessary investment in yourself. Remember this – no female entrepreneur reaches success by flying solo. 

Question #6: What will it cost?

The commitment to your plan will cost an investment of your time, money, and emotions and you should be prepared. Be realistic about the cost of each goal and the strategy to implement it. You’re making a deep emotional investment when it comes to being a female entrepreneur so don’t set yourself up for failure by not counting the cost. You’ll be investing your family’s time and emotions too if this is applicable. It isn’t possible to develop a plan without affecting those close to you. So again, be prepared!

Question #7: How will I do it?

All too often, people create vague, non-specific “road maps” that they call plans to lead them to important aims, targets or destinations. But here’s the deal… without clear maps and precise planning, you’re unlikely to achieve your goals. With no understanding of your own strengths and weaknesses and your likes and dislikes, you’ll have no way of knowing whether you can continue to travel along the road you have mapped out, let alone enjoy the journey without struggle and disappointment. So get a plan.

Oprah Winfrey and Richard Branson are a few of the entrepreneurs of our time that demonstrates anything is possible. Edison’s success shows that if you give up too easily, you can lose out on all of the opportunities for success awaiting you in your business. So take the time to find opportunity in every circumstance and situation you encounter, and you’ll see the success in all of your endeavors.
